Proverbs 29

Playing by the Rules

If people can't see what God is doing, they stumble all over themselves;
But when they attend to what he reveals, they are most blessed. Proverbs 29:18 (MSG)

I enjoy playing fun games with my children. Sometimes the older children really get frustrated when our toddler tries to play with us. The problem is, no matter how bad the toddler wants to play the game, he just doesn’t know the rules or goal of the game. Instead, he messes up the game for the rest of us. He stumbles all over the game board and knocks the pieces off the table. We really want him to play, but until he learns how to play by the rules, he’s more of a bother than a blessing.

God has provided each of us with the rule book on life, the Bible. Unfortunately, too many people are stumbling through life playing by the wrong set of rules. They think they’re smart enough, cute enough, have enough money; some even think they can make up the rules as they go along.

The truth be told, those who live their life by their own rules quickly become more of a bother than a blessing to those around them. Usually, their life is without much significant purpose or meaning. God has given us all His plan and purpose for life in the pages of the Bible. Do you know enough of God's Word to know how to live for Him?

Spend some time today not just reading God’s Word, but more importantly, living according to God’s Word, not your own, and you will be blessed!
