At Idlewild, 2009 has been declared by our Pastor as the "Year to Serve: Hearts & Hands for Service." Jesus said, "Even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve" (Mark 10:45). Following His example, we are endeavoring to serve one another and our Lord with a spirit of love and genuine caring.

How can I Serve?

This year’s theme represents a practical progression from the Year to Connect (‘07), the Year to Grow (’08), and now the Year to Serve (’09).  We are encouraging everyone to become connected in an Adult Bible Fellowship (ABF) class, so that through your ABF leadership you can be directed to serve along-side your brothers and sisters in Christ.  If you are not connected to an Adult Bible Fellowship class, please View our Bible Fellowship Directory to find the one that is most appropriate for you.  Each Adult Bible fellowship class has been assigned a specific Serve Saturday on which they will be reaching out and serving the Lutz and the Greater Tampa community.  Please view the Serve Saturday Schedule here to find out when your class will be out serving.  Your ABF Teacher or ABF Serve Coordinator will be able to give you the details for your service project as your Serve Saturday approaches.  Your ABF leaders received a Year to Serve Leadership Packet with your project guidelines.

What do I Need to Serve?

We are encouraging everyone who is participating in a Year to Serve project with their Adult Bible Fellowship class to:

• Be prepared to share your faith through humble service and a vocal witness.
• Purchase a Year-to-Serve T-shirt at the Events Registration Desk on Sunday or Wednesday for $5.
• Sign a release form available here: Year to Serve Liability Waiver . (please give your completed waiver to your ABF leader on your Serve Saturday)
• Complete an Idlewild Background Check if your service project will be serving children specifically.
