Support the Marriage Amendment
Critical Time for Federal Marriage Amendment Is Now
photoUnless Christians speak up now in support of the Federal Marriage Amendment, legalized homosexual marriage in the United States is likely to become a reality, according to Christian leaders. Several U.S. Congress members say that Christian constituents have been relatively silent on this issue, making the lawmakers less confident to take a stand. Time is running out. The vote may well come in the House of Representatives this summer. With election year on the minds of Congress and our current President in favor of the Federal Marriage Amendment, the best time to settle this issue is now.
Here is the text of the proposed Federal Marriage Amendment (SJ Res 26 and HJ Res 56) to the U.S. Constitution:
"Marriage in the United States shall consist only of the union of a man and a woman. Neither this Constitution, nor the Constitution of any State, nor State or Federal law, shall be construed to require that marital status or the legal incidents thereof be conferred upon unmarried couples or groups."
Here’s how you can show your support of the Federal Marriage Amendment:
1. Register to vote. Legislators pay more attention to registered, active voters. In addition to registering yourself, help a friend get registered and multiply your influence.
2. Contact and express your support of the Federal Marriage Amendment to the members of the U.S. Congress who represent you. The best way to let them know is by calling their office.
3. Vote. It is our privilege and responsibility to elect government officials that represent the values that we hold. Find out where the candidates stand and their voting records, then vote your convictions.
